IceVue Planning
Software
The IceVue™ planning and simulation
software enables a physician to create a preoperative
plan prior to the start of cryotherapy ablation,
customized for each patient, to ensure accurate
clinical outcomes. This software application provides
advanced tools for urologists performing cryosurgery
(freezing) with the Presice™
Cryoablation system and 17-gauge
disposable cryoablation needles, either i-Thaw™
or Helium thaw.
The Presice™
system with its advanced IceVue planning software
brings a new level of accuracy to prostate
cryosurgery and renal
cryosurgery.
During the minimally invasive procedure, each process is fully controlled by the physician who executes procedure steps using the touch screen and sterile stylus to initiate the required commands. Notes may be added during the ablation treatment via the keyboard. The notes are saved to the procedure report.
The Register method is the first stage of IceVue™ planning, whereby the physician is required to register the prostate’s widest slice to the prostate procedure template.
After registering the prostate to the template, a choice of pre-operative planning methods is provided. For each method, on-screen wizards provide step-by-step instructions for planning the cryotherapy ablation.
Planning Methods
The Simulate and Needle Planning methods are based
on system calculations and are provided as recommendations
only for the cryosurgical ablation procedure.
The physician uses his/her clinical judgment to
determine the suitability of the system recommendations
for the specific prostate
cancer treatment or kidney
cancer ablation treatment .
The Simulate method provides registration of the prostate’s widest slice, virtual placement
of the needles, and two-dimensional simulation of isotherms. Using the tools provided the physician creates an on-screen drawing of the anatomical contours of the prostate, urethra, and rectal wall.
The physician is then able to Simulate and observe the outcome of the freezing effect of the needles in their current positions. Needle positions may be adjusted (or needles added/removed) and the Simulate process repeated, until the optimal outcome is observed.
The Needle Planning
method includes a full volumetric study of the
prostate, needle coordinates, and a three-dimensional
simulation of isotherms on acquired slices. The
plan method includes the option of Auto
Planning whereby the Presice™
system calculates and displays the optimal
placement for the defined number of needles.
The simulation option simulates the
system's plan in order to observe the ice (isotherm)
coverage. Moreover, the physician can add/remove/reposition
needles on the suggested plan and re-simulate
to ensure accurate results for the minimally invasive
surgery. Upon completion, the pre-operative plan
is saved, and is available in the Patient Report.
